Description
(Immune system enhancer, rumen microbiome regulator, antioxidant for calves)
COMPOSITION:
Immunofin is a pure natural drug containing highly effective herbs such as Echinacea, Yarrow, Peppermint and few other herbs. The drug formulation has been supported by latest advances and researches on herbal active ingredients so that these compounds are formulated in such a way that their various components intensify each other’s therapeutic effects in a synergistic manner. The most important ingredients in the drug are: Alkylamides (such as Isobutylamide, Methyl Butylamide and Cichoric/Chicoric acid), polysaccharides (Echinacin, Echinacoside), and terpenes (Citronellol, Caryophyllene).
MECHANISM OF ACTION:
Effect on the immune system: The specific polysaccharides in Immunofin are immuno-stimulants so the drug excites effectively the “cell-mediated immunity” and prevents or even in some cases, treats diarrhea particularly in young calves by increasing serum and mucosal IgA levels. In addition to T lymphocyte, Immunofin can stimulate the activated mode or provoke the proliferation of B lymphocytes so the B cells starts to produce immunoglobulins such as IgG.
Improvement of the intestinal ecosystem/microflora: Immunofin regulates gastrointestinal flora and improves the digestion so prevents bloating in lambs and calves. Some of the phytochemicals within Immunofin, are effective antibacterial and strong antivirus therefore can suppress the pathogens and improve the health and growth performance of lambs and calves by creating a balanced ecosystem. By eliminating the pathogens, the drug provides suitable conditions for useful gastrointestinal bacteria. The modified ecosystem causes the reduction of denaturation and the degradation of feed proteins by pathogen microorganisms. Thereby the drug prevents the nutritional deficiency, lack of vital feed supplements and nutritional competition between pathogens and useful microorganisms and provides an appropriate background for increasing the gastrointestinal population of useful bacteria.
Antioxidant activity: Immunofin contains potent antioxidant compounds with modulatory effect on the expression and production of protein kinases, a group of enzymes which are affected during the oxidative stress and by the action of superoxide dismutase (SOD). Proteins are major targets of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and attacked then modified by free radicals although the modifications can be both reversible and irreversible. The SOD is a key part of the cells defense mechanisms against excessive production of harmful free radicals. SOD acts as the catalyzer and eliminator of the free radicals produced during oxidation processes (e.g. the free radicals due to oxidation of the lipids). Accumulation of free radicals within a cell can be resulted in protein modifications such as; degradation/denaturation/unfolding of proteins, protein aggregation, and protein deactivation/activation. The free radicals also induce cell membrane damage, DNA damage, production of pro- and inflammatory cytokines and injuries in key organs such as liver. The cell toxicity and tissue damages can be completely inhibited with the help of strong antioxidants present in Immunofin. The antioxidants within the drug prevent the accumulation of free radicals by activating the anti-oxidative defense mechanisms (e.g. SOD) in cell and therefore stop the detrimental effect of oxidative stress-mediated kinases/phosphatases imbalance.
THERAPEUTIC FEATURES:
Herbal compounds within Immunofin have multi-purpose beneficial effects and can help to improve the immune system and health of calves and lambs through different pathways. The active ingredients present in Immunofin help to rapid clearing of the blood from the invading pathogens and fast resolution of infections due to good antimicrobial activity. Also Immunofin stimulates and modulates the immune system as an immunostimulator, and prevents the oxidative stress-induced damages and complications in the challenged animal as an antioxidant. Also, Immunofin decreases the incidence of gastrointestinal and respiratory infections, increases feed intake and regulates the intestine/rumen function, modifies the ecosystem of the rumen (favors the increased population of useful bacteria in the rumen), reduces mortality, improves the growth performance and maximizes the mean weight of calves. In fact, the drug can be administered for young animal, as a competent alternative for prebiotics and probiotics.
INDICATIONS:
Strengthens the mucosal immunity, reduces the prevalence of bacterial/viral diarrhea in new born calves/lambs, modifies the rumen/gut microbiome towards the increased population of useful microorganisms, regulates the gastrointestinal function, and helps to faster development of rumen epithelium and better fermentation.
TARGET ANIMALS: Calf, lamb, foal and other young farm animals.
INSTRUCTIONS TO USE: The best outcome can be obtained if the drug is used in first days after birth but also it is okay if the drug is administered later. The drug dosage should be respected as follows: For calf, please
Add 10ml of the drug solution each day to the milk or milk replacer. It should be started in newly born animal (from 3 days after birth) and maintained until one week after weaning from milk (transitioning the type from milk and starter to grain/forage and concentrate). In the case of applying the drug as the treatment for the gastrointestinal/respiratory diseases, please use a higher amount of drug daily until resolution of the illness as follows: add 15 ml of the drug into the milk or milk replacer for each head of the calves in the herd. For the lambs and kids, please use the drug under the supervision and advice of a DVM.
CONTRAINDICATIONS: None.
CLINICAL TRIALS: We planned feeding the young (infant) calves with experimental diets from the birth time until weaning time. All calves of the experimental groups consumed the colostrum. At first experiment, we evaluated the starter intake in two groups of calves; one was fed with a starter diet mixed with Immunofin (8 ml/day) and other group was fed with a routine diet (without Immunofin). The average total starter consumption of calves in Immunofin-treated group was significantly higher than that in both control and probiotic-treated groups (P <0.05)
